Infertility

WTF appointment finally!

We finally had our WTF appointment today 23 days after stopping meds, but who's counting!

Doctor said he looks at 4 main things when evaluating a failed cycle: stimulation, fertilization, transfer, and genetics. Lots of data and medical explanation later, he is very encouraged by how I stimmed, fert rate of 100% of my live eggs (one was dead which he said was normal), a #1 rated transfer by the geneticist, and the fact that I did get pregnant. He thinks there were genetic abnormalities with the embryos, which he says happens with 47% of day 3 transfers.  He also talked quite a bit about why he thinks FET's are more successful, especially now that I have proven that I can get pregnant. He actually did a research project on this in New York, which was a pretty cool story. He was not concerned at all about the bleeding I had after implantation or the low betas. Now I just need MORE AF vibes please! As long as I get my period by 2/13 or so I can make the March cycle for a FET.  Transfer would be 3/20.

Is there a March group yet?  I'm so glad we have a plan!

  • Oh, also, my doctor is having us do a freeze-all cycle when we do our initial IVF cycle (also hopefully in March!) and she recommends FETs over fresh transfers, too! I'm glad to hear that your doctor agrees. She has a higher success rate with this, due to the mother's body responding better after recovering from the stress of stimming and ER. :) Anyways, that's all for now. Cheers!

Just out of curiosity, do you live in the US or elsewhere?  My Dr. said that freeze all and FET later protocols are common in other countries, but he didn't think it would ever be common practice here.

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts!

  • JSchwind I live in the U.S.! I'm willing to share where and what clinic if you want to PM me. :) My doctor says that she chose to come work at my clinic because of how effective and advanced their cryogenic processes are there, because she thinks freeze-all cycles with a later FET are best for the woman and the embryo and for results. :) I respect her opinion, and I also highly respect medical viewpoints of European countries. They generally have the most "holistic" viewpoint, imho...

I have a good feeling for you. March is a lucky month!
