We have used Desitin, Buttpaste, and Vaseline. Vaseline works best for my LO and her bum. It's also easier to wipe off. Make sure your LO is completely dry before you put it on though, if not you will just seal in the moisture and make the rash worse. Good luck.
TheAnne posted a recipe for Triple Cream Paste. When Connor was a NB he had a REALLY bad case of diaper rash. The NICU even put prescription gel on it and this Triple Cream recipe was the only thing that cleared it up.
We just got O's diaper rash cleared up thankfully! I turned to my brother for advice since his son had a recurring rash problem and he suggested to alternate our Desitin use with Aquaphor and to make sure his bum is completely dry before putting anything on. Our routine became to clean him up, pat his butt dry with a tissue, put on either Desitin or aquaphor and then his diaper. It took about a week, but it has cleared up now!

I make homemade triple paste too! I use it if he gets red. Once it clears up, I use coconut oil occasionally to prevent.
Magic butt spackle - it was developed at the university of iowa and it was the only thing that cleared but my nieces diaper rash when she was a new born. It is magical.
1/2 tube A&D ointment
1/2 tube zinc oxide
1 Tbsp bacitracin 1 Tbsp Maalox or Mylanta
Mix it up and spackle it on!
Sorry for the weird formatting, I am on my Ipad.

I use Anti-Monkey Butt, cream and powder. The powder is great for keeping LO dry, especially at night. And the cream clears up any rash that may show up in 2 days. It's the only brand I've used and I love it.

We use Desitin. It seems to work fine, although I've never tried anything else. It tends to come off easily unless you put it on super thick, which is what my pedi recommended.

Re: Diaper rash
Same. We do California baby or EMAB bottom balm for the nighttime dipe
This. The pedi said the key to it is to make sure you put enough to coat the rash so the next poop can't touch it.
We blow dry on cold every change and use cotton balls w water instead of wipes.
