How do you label daycare bottles?

At home I use a wet erase marker, but with condensation that develops in the fridge, it will wipe off if you touch it.  Also, the medela storage bottles (which I mostly use) have that frosted area on the bottle that make it easier to write on.

Do you put masking tape on the bottles and write on that?  I'm thinking that the tape would get gross after being washed a few times...

Do you use permanent marker and write directly on it?  I guess it wouldn't be a big deal to permanently have our last name on her bottles, but I'm not sure how to label them if I want to put numbers on them (like to tell the teachers which order to use the bottles in) - obviously I don't want to permanently number anything!

Any other suggestions?

  • I used masking tape and folded a corner for easy removal. I took the tape off to wash and reapplied as long as the sticky lasted. I also labeled the bottle to use first, second, etc. For which was older or had vit d in it.

  • I buy the Dr Browns bottle labels from amazon.  They are more expensive than regular tape, but they come off cleanly, even if they get wet.  I was using other lables and ended up with annoying residue.  Ive been completely happy with these.

  • I was planning on using painters tape.  It will stick throughout the day, but I know it will come off easily at night.

  • For the name, I used Woozems (link) and they're awesome.  For the date, I used a grease pen (link).  It stays on well enough that you can't accidentally wipe it off but comes off easily with a little effort at the end of the day (just use a paper towel).  Tape seems like it would be a PITA.

  • For the names I ordered bottle labels from etsy that have DS's name.  They are great.  They don't come off in the dishwasher but peel of easily when I want without leaving a residue.  I put them on the cap and bottle part.  For the date I ordered these food labels from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MPH4OG/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01  You write the date on with a permanent marker and then you can erase them off at night and wash the label in the dishwasher.  Again, they come off easily when you peel them without leaving a reside.  It's super easy for us.

  • We use a combo of labels from inchbug and painters tape

  • Masking tape with sharpie marker.  DC put DS name on the bottles this way 4 months ago and the tape has stayed on nicely and hasn't peeled off (bottles are washed nightly).

  • Thanks for the replies ladies!  After one of you mentioned inchbugs, I took a look and decided to get these similar things from amazon (sorry not clicky):

Hopefully they work well, if not I think I'm heading toward the grease pens :)

  • I used vinyl labels from Oliver's Labels for LO's name and masking tape and a sharpie for the date and amount.

We used Oliver's Labels for his name, and a little round sticky dot marked with a 1/2/3/4.

  • I wanted to get the inchbug labels but my daycare requires LOs name, date and time bottle was prepared, ounces and type of milk either BM of formula. So I just use plain masking tape on the lid and remove daily.
  • We use a home daycare.  I wrote our last name on the bottom of the bottles with permanent marker.  I don't date, or tell our provider what order to use them in.  I put both bottles in a gallon ziplock bag each day, she sends them home empty in the same ziplock bag each night.

  • I got labels from NameBubbles.com.  They have a daycare pack of labels that includes dishwasher safe stickers and laundry safe stickers.  The dishwasher ones have DS's name on one type of sticker and then we use a second blank sticker and a grease pen to write the date since that is required by the day care.  The masking tape thing would be horribly annoying for me.

  • I bought Sippy Stickies for the name and they have lasted 9 months. i use tiny white stick on labels that I write the date on. I peel off the date sticker before I was the bottle. A pack of 100 was $1 at Walmart.
  • I am a little late to the party on this but I have found that white vinyl electric tape is awesome. I have his name on one label which stays on all week even after I wash it every day in hot soapy water and then peels off at the end of the week and doesn't leave any residue. Everyday I change the label that has the date and how many ounces are in each bottle. They best thing is you can get the tape anywhere (I got mine at Target) and it is really cheap.

  • Hockey tape! We label tons of stuff with it and it doesn't leave any residue. It also comes in fun colors. Pink for my little lady and orange for my little man. :-) It goes through the washing machine beautifully. We label gloves and boots with it and the tape actually stays on!
