Bumpers for Top Of Crib

So I know that the whole head banging thing is normal and we've gotten used to it for the most part. The one thing I can't adjust to is the head banging on the crib. LO stands up and bangs his head on the top of the crib. It pretty much sounds like someone is doing construction on our house it's so loud. It's gotten to the point where I can't tell if LO has tired himself out when he goes to sleep or knocked himself out (obviously I check on him once he's asleep but I can't be in the room to see this). I would just tie the bumpers to the top of the crib but I am not sure how well this will work (has anyone done this?). I know they make crib rail protectors for teething--- so has anyone found padded ones for this type of behavior?

BTW this is someone elses' image of our crib

Re: Bumpers for Top Of Crib

  • i am sorry to hear that you are going through this with your son. i hope the situation improves soon! i actually have kept my sons bumperx tirec to the upper pzrt of his crib since he turned 1. i was always worried if i kept them low he would climb on them and fall out of the crib. Also since my aunt purchased my crib set i didnt want the money she spent on the bumpers to go to waste. my son is 20 months now and has yet to try to climb out of his crib. i also have iece of mind if he rolls into the side of the crib he wont suffocate.

sorry for the typos. i am on my tablet with my son on one leg and my dog on the other!

  • I wouldn't worry.... my LO stands against a wall and bangs her head all the time. It could be time to transition to a toddler bed too
  • I don't have any trouble with my 13 month old head banging but we did put a crib bumper on the top rail to stop him form chewing on the wood.  My grandmother made the bumper though. It looks like a really long cloth diaper with a few ties along the edge. It helps a ton with the chewing and it is padded enough it might help you to.
  • We have these ones that we use for teething.  I think they would work for what you want them for too!
