I hate my cat. She's insane. I think she has kitty Alzheimer's. She is old, flucking old. She's twenty years old.
I used to like my cat, but lately she has been super nuts. She follows me around all the time meowing at nothing. She randomly jumps on my back or shoulder because she doesn't want to walk or something. She used to go inbetween my bedroom and the basement. Now, she's all up in everyone's grill. The worst part is that she's not nice and Jack loves her. He goes nuts when he sees her. But, she's mean, and completely insane, so I'm terrified she's going to scratch him.
I have been kicking her out during the day. But, she's still psycho.

Re: I hate my cat.
Aw - poor kitty. Not to discount your frustration - I know it's frustrating. I just have a soft spot for old, neurotic cats. I can't imagine having little kids around a mean old cat, so that would make me nervous.
The cat we had growing up was nearly 24 when he died - he died while I was away at college, and it was hard. He lost his eyesight, hearing, and control of his bladder, so we kept him in the kitchen so he wouldn't get lost or stain the carpet. Before we barricaded him in the kitchen, he'd get lost, and walk in circles, meowing rather pathetically. It was really sad and painful to watch. I missed out on the worst part since I was at school, but we tried to keep him comfortable and happy. My mom believed he was still enjoying life, so she wouldn't put him down or take him to the vet or anything. I don't think I could have either, though I think he suffered more than he showed.
Now my friend's old neurotic cat - she was REALLY neurotic. She couldn't control her claws anymore, so they'd slip out a little, and get stuck in the carpet, sofa, or whatever she was walking on. My friend was the only one in her family who had any compassion for the cat, so my friend took care of her.
So that's why I have a soft-spot for old kitties. Now I think I'm going to cry as I think about my old cat (stupid pregnancy hormones). Good luck - hope you figure out a solution.
I'm sorry your cat has gone all psycho - Has she been to the vet lately? At 20 years of age, I feel chances are there IS something wrong with her.
I'm kind of worried of how my cats will be a few years down the road. They are 13 years old. I hope they live a happy kitty life until they pass, but I know that may not be the case. I hate thinking about that.
What a sad kitty story. Tear.
I wouldn't ever ever ever try and put kitty in a carrier and take her to the vet. I paid 350 for the house vet to come when Liam was a baby. ah hemm, that would be 3 or so years ago. ;D her blood work looked good then. Like a kitten, tHey said. Maybe it's time to bring the house vet by again.
By the way, I didn't mean to imply anything by telling my sob story about my cat...like you're not compassionate or anything. Even pets that we've loved for years can drive us crazy, and I totally understand that. There are days when my current Fluffy drives me insane...and then I hug him and he purrs and everything is better.
I totally didn't take it that way!!! Part of the problem is me, honestly. I have four animals, two small kids and I'm KU. I just don't feel like dealing with this in your face kitty that used to hide from the kids.
I also love all animals especially kitties. But, I don't love the responsibities of having this many critters. H and I talk about it all the time. We're a two pet kind of family. One cat and one dog. But, I'm not going to do anything about it. So, we're stuck with four animals until the two old ladies naturally pass away.
I am soooo glad that our leases have always prevented us from getting a second pet. We really wanted to get a dog when we moved to Hawaii, but we barely found a home that allowed our cat. And then we had the "move back home while DH deployed" fiasco, and I was so relieved that I didn't have to pay for TWO animals to go back and forth. (Getting pets into Hawaii is expensive, and airfare for them is bad, to.) So I told DH I wanted to get a dog when we get settled here (since he'll be away part of the time), but I know myself well enough to admit that I'm a lazy bum and don't want to clean up dog poo or other dog-related messes or take a dog for a walk everyday.... Once my cat passes (which hopefully won't be for a loooong time), I probably won't want to get another pet until DH is out of the military.
Also, the "in your face kitty comment" cracked me up because it made me think of some elderly people I know - I know several older people who have become more "in your face" as they aged.
