I'm scheduled for my first ever mammogram tomorrow after work. Little nervous about it just b/c it's new. Doc gave me the script at my last annual to get it done at my convenience. Since we might be TTC #3 soon, i want to get this out of the way.
Advice or thoughts?
Re: having first mammogram...what to expect?
I had a lump that was later removed (benign tumor, thankfully) so I had to have a mammo last January.
It wasn't as bad as I expected. I have HUGE boobs and they are very dense. The tech had a hard time posistioning them and getting a "good image" so it took awhile, but the actual squeeing wasn't bad at all.
It was cold, though!
I have had 2 for lumps that thankfully turned out to be cysts and dense tissue.
The first one I had was uncomfortable, but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Second one was much better. I do not have huge boobs and they really needed to smoosh them to get good pictures. I think the worst part was waiting in that little room for the same day results at the place I went.
Good luck and it will not be as bad as you think
