GTKY: Soups!

Ok, shamelessly stole this from other BMBs 🙈

But it's fall, and it's been cold here recently (60° this morning!) so let's talk soups!

Re: GTKY: Soups!

  • Made chicken and dumplings last night. They were sooooo good.   Tortilla is another we make a lot in fall/winter time 🤤
  • Loading the player...
  • Hands down: butternut squash and pumpkin soup.
I also made an amazing chili earlier this week, it was soooo good and very filling!

  • I'm gonna go rogue and say... gumbo is the best soup/stew!  A huge PITA to make since we have to make the roux from scratch (gluten free) but sooo worth it for all the leftovers.

And still going rogue, tom kha gai is my 2nd favorite soup.

Tortilla/tomato would be my faves from the list though.

@DarkSerendipity oooh add some pork sausage and sage, and that butternut squash soup sounds perfect!!
  • It’s not on the picture but …. Taco soup is the best!!!  Of the list homemade chicken noodle!
  • The best soup is definitely gumbo but not on that list! 😂😂😂 I’m a Louisiana girl to the core 💜
Although if that lobster bisque was crawfish bisque instead it would have my vote LOL!!

  • Gosh I love so many of these soups! Broccoli cheddar and tomato both have a special place in my heart. But I probably eat lentil soup on the most regular.
  • I usually get broccoli and cheddar from Panera but if I am making my own in the crock pot I go for loaded baked potato.
  • We mostly do wild rice or chicken tortilla soup. @addsprinkles521 loaded baked potato sounds good, I’m going to have to look for that.

I’m just lol’ing at all the southerners in a couple of the posts this morning being so cold in the 50s. I’m very far north and it was 23° this morning!!  :D
  • @happynapper and we will be lol'ing at everyone when they complain it's "SO HOT" and 80° next year 😂😉
  • I normally love butternut squash, but it has been a huge aversion for me this pregnancy 😭

I do love a good french onion soup though and find myself randomly craving it throughout the year.
  • all soup is the best soup. Pretty sure fall is my favorite because I get to make soups lol. My absolute favorite is a beef vegetable that I make with a tomato base and it’s so freaking good. But I also love a good black bean soup, French onion soup, chicken anything soup (rice, noodles, dumplings - I’ll eat them all). Give me allllll the soups
  • Beef & Barley!! And I have the best recipe recommendation if anyone wants it. Not my recipe but 100% delicious.
  • Cream of broccoli soup from Tim Hortons is my absolute favourite. I need to figure out how to make it at home.

we also make chicken stew with dumplings in the crockpot when we have leftover chicken.

@happynapper I’m one of those southerners lol!  Tomorrow the high is 49 and I’m already thinking about what to wear tomorrow to not freeze 🤣. We aren’t cut out for the cold here!!
  • @happynapper I can’t even fathom 23° right now!! My feet are cold just thinking about it lol!!

  • Our highs are still in the 80s the first half of this week before the cold front blows through, but I just checked and there's a low of 42 on Friday 😳 I think my wool coat will still button... if not, I a full length one that wraps that should still work, I'll just be super extra 😂

  • I love pretty much all soup 😆 it’s hard to pick a favorite. From the list above, I love lentil soup and lobster bisque the most, with clam chowder, tortilla, tomato (I’m picky with mine though), and broccoli cheddar a very close second.
  • I love Zupa Toscana, chicken and wild rice, and most squash soups.
  • Omg looking at this picture made me so hungry. Broccoli cheddar, French onion, snd tortilla all look sooo good. Not pictured/ I get this roasted red pepper soup with Gouda from a local spot and it is seriously the greatest thing ever. Also Panera chicken and wild rice soup. YUM
  • Entirely situation dependent. Am I pairing it with grilled cheese? Then obvs it's tomato soup for dunking.  Is it late night out after clubbing (I was young once) then bring on the Pho or Ramen! Am I eating this as a meal out of a bread bowl? Chedder Broccoli.  Am I home sick with the sniffles? Chicken and Stars baby.

But, french onion is pretty much always awesome, so...
  • Pho, definitely! Although a pregnancy craving I had with DS and this one is wonton soup mixed with hot and sour soup. I love it! And obviously, gotta add the fried noodles that come with it. 😂😋
