Potty Training Issue...

My 3yo has FINALLY gotten into potty training. When she first showed interest i was about 8 months pregnant, and far to exhausted to do much more beyond buying her a potty seat, and occasionally letting her sit on it. After baby was born I completely put potty training aside for a few months and by then she had zero interest. So now at 3 she's finally going several times a day, even when were out at the mall or preschool or wherever.

Here's my issue...

Nap time. She's using the excuse to sit on the potty to delay, or get out of nap time and go to bed at night. I let her sit on the potty but after 10 minutes she she hasn't gone I try to get her back to her room. Typically she's already gone, either on the potty before nap time started and shes asking to go again 5 minutes later, or she's gone in the diaper and its still warm. We're using Pull Ups since I bought a box on clearance and it's lasted over a month. Any advice to get my little staller to take a nap with out discouraging her from using the potty? I need that hour, even if it's just quiet time in her room, so I don't go crazy.

Re: Potty Training Issue...

  • I agree with PP. Even if she has just gone, make it part of the nap-time routine. Sit on potty, read books, etc. whatever. My FI's DD is 3 and she used to use needing to pee as a stall tactic at bed-time. I usually do take her if she really needs to go because she's been having issues with peeing the bed at night, but I know it's a stall when I tell her if she really has to go, then I will take her but I better hear pee in the toilet! 9 times out of 10, she will lay back in bed.
