water in MAM-style pacifiers

DD will only take a MAM paci, but I've noticed the nipple part holds moisture inside, either from her saliva or from washing and I'm a little worried about bacteria. I try to squeeze out as much water as possible after cleaning DD's pacis and sterilize them often, but the water never completely comes out. Anyone have any tips for making them really dry out?

  • No tips for drying them, but the water gets in on the opposite side then her mouth. You know where the round white part is, it goes in around that part. So just squeeze the extra water out holding the nipple up and that round part down.

^ That is what I have found to work too.

Also, when I wash them I hold them by the round white part and try not to completely put it in water (I only put the nipple part in). Then when I put them on the drying rack, I put the white part down so that the nipple part is facing up.

  • Yeah, that's kind of what I've been doing. It's just seems so ridiculous to me to make something that goes in a baby's mouth that can't be completely clean and dry. Ah, well.
  • I was never able to get the condensation out. I boiled the ones I have to sterilize them months ago and there's still some inside.

It's a good thing DD hates the Mam paci's anyway, cause it grossed me out even thinking about being in her mouth.
