So, heres my background:
DH and I found out we conceived on 03/11/12. We were super excited because we had not even thought of actively trying, and I was only 2 months off BCPs. Our LO was conceived during a rushed quickie too. Hehe.
I think I knew right from the beginning something was not quite right. I started spotting right away. I had a few different ultrasounds, all showing a growing sack but no baby or fetal pole. My OBGYN was going to send me to a specialized radiology place for a better ultrasound, but I started miscarrying at 12 weeks. The sack stopped growing at 7 weeks.
Rather then miss work to miscarry naturally, I opted for the D&C, which was performed on 04/30/12, 4 days before my 28th birthday. I finally got a BFN a little over a month later in June 2012, that is also when I got my first menstrual cycle.
Since then my periods and cycles have been a mess. Some months I bleed, others I do not. Sometimes the cycle is heavy, sometimes its less than a days worth of spotting.
Its now January 2013. DH and I have been trying to conceive again since my OB gave me the good to go back in June. My periods are still irregular, however I dont know what they were like naturally as I had been on the BCP for over 8 years.
Im pretty sure I am not ovulating. My primary doctor thinks the same, however she doesnt want to move forward unless I am without a period for over 4 months. I would have been at that point this month but I started bleeding on 01/08/13. Its a normal period flow, just zero pms symptoms so it makes me wonder about my hormones.
well anyways, thats my story. Just wondering if anyone else has experience the same irregular periods and off hormones after a loss. Is it normal to have such a shaky menstrual cycle after a loss? Should I be pushing my doctor harder to see why my periods are so wacky? or is this something that will just fix itself over time? I really thought I would bounce back like those other women and be pregnant in a few months, but I guess thats not my lot in life right now. Im trying to remain positive and read others stories.
So I am not looking for a medical doctors advice obviously, just stories of those in similar situations.
Thank you
03/11/12 - unplanned BFP, very excited
04/30/12 - D&C for Blighted Ovum at 12 weeks

Your current doc is nuts. If she "suspects" that you're not ovulating for several months, the proper protocol is running bloodwork/ultrasounds to confirm that, not waiting four full months to see if something happens. You also should consider charting your BBT for a couple cycles - if you have concrete proof that you aren't ovulating, see an RE. In the meantime I would suggest you post on TTCAL since you haven't been trying a year post-loss and you don't have a diagnosis.
As an aside, I have to say that the part of your post about your "hehe" BFP coming from a quickie after two months TTC really rubbed me the wrong way. It's cutesy and pretty obnoxious, given the board you're posting on. A simple "we conceived quickly the first time, but since our loss things have been much different" would suffice.
Good luck to you.
Also, this.
