Up until 5 months old DS has been eating every 2-3hrs. Pedi said he would encourage us to try to move these night feedings to the day and try to get him to a more regular schedule where he eats closer to 4-5hrs.
We did the sleepeasy for 2 days so far, but have only focused him on getting comfortable in his crib (he would only sleep in his carseat before). So, now he is doing AMAZING with the crib and can get himself to sleep easily, but still "needs" to eat every 3hrs at night.
I'm planning to do the sleepeasy weaning method, where you slowly take a few minutes off the nursing sessions. Has anyone done this? Did you have success? We have 3 night feedings, so I know this will likely take weeks, maybe months but if you have any advice, I'd love to hear it! Thanks!
Re: Anyone wean nights while doing sleepeasy?
We started 1 week ago and previously DD was nursed to sleep and then nursed 3x per night. As of last night, I no longer dream feed, however she continues to wake around 1 ( cries for 5 minutes), 3 (cries for 30 minutes), and then at 4:30. Last night I ended up feeding her at 4:30, because I was honestly just too tired to listen to the crying ( my DH gets up at 4:30 and I get up at 5:30). I guess technically I should have done check-ins at that time.
So, good news, weaning is sort of possible if you are diligent and consistent!!! I will probably continue to feed my DD anytime after 4 unless it starts to cause issues.
I actually got more sleep prior to sleep easy because she fell asleep after nursing which was 10 minutes max.
