Hi everyone,
my name is nicole im married and have a 2 yr old daughter. Weve been ttc for over a year now without luck.

I had an appointment last month with my ob to talk about why it isnt happening. He did some bloodwork to rule out thyroid problems and told me to start doing ovulator predictor tests for days 1016.

My bloodwork came back good. I did the ovulation tests for days 1016 and never got a positive. I called my doctor and let him know i didnt ovulate in that time frame.So now he wants me to start on clomid for my next cycle which makes me nervous.

Im wondering if any of you have used clomid and if so im wondering if it worked and the side affects you had while on it?

I have tried Clomid and I didn't ovulate on it. However, I take letrozole the sub for femara and have had much success with it but the baby isn't sticking... The side effects for letrozole/femara that I have had is just sleepiness so I take it at night a few hours before bed and no real issues during the day. With Clomid I had moodiness, weight gain, headaches and other stuff I can't really remember (sorry it was a year and a half ago) but I had to deal with all that for no response...

Welcome and I too am sorry for the struggles and hope that Clomid works!

I am taking it this month for the first time (Starting Sunday) and am nervous so am interested in hearign others side effects.  Not happy hearing weight gain is possible!!

Welcome to the board.  I don't have any experience with clomid, but do recall seeing people mention that it's best to be monitored while on it.  Since you mentioned it was prescribed by your OB, just curious if you will be monitored?

Im not sure how it will be monitored. Im suppose to call him when my period starts and then go in for s pregnancy test and then ill get the perscription and hopefully more information then.

Welcome! I recommend you make an appointment with an RE before you start taking fertility meds. They can test a variety of things. Clomid has nasty side effect. I would only use under close monitoring.

I tested days 10 to 16 and they werent positive during that time fram.I do think i ovulated earlier than day 10 either day 7 or 8 but i didnt take a test which im kicking myself for now.

I have a couple of thoughts-

Have you tried temping at all? I went through a couple cycles where my OPK did not indicate an LH surge, but I did have a temp rise which confirms ovulation. I've read that some times a test can be negative but it just maybe means you missed your surge that day.

Also, how many times a day and at what time do you test? It is my understanding (from my doctor) to test twice a day, and the same time every day. Just a couple ideas that might help you pinpoint your ovulation if you're not ready for meds. 

In any case, I'm sorry you're having this struggle. It totally sucks.  

I havent tried taking my temp. I will have to try that next time.

Also my ob said to test in the morning right away when i wake up. So ive only been doing it once a day at the same time.

If doing twice a day what would be the second time youd try?

Welcome. This is me exactly. DD is a femara/letrozole baby. Clomid didnt work for me at all.

Thanks everyone for all of your input! Im still undecided on the clomid i have about 2 weeks to think it over before id have to decide.
