Anyone still on unisom/b6?

I'm still taking my unisom/b6 cocktail before bed every night and I would love to start weaning off the unisom, but I'm worried that it'll lead to feeling sick again.

Anyone still on it? Has anyone weaned of it and had good results? If you are still on it, how long do you plan to continue?

Re: Anyone still on unisom/b6?

  • I've been weaning off of it. I still take it during the week because I don't want to be sick at work, but I have been forgoing on Friday and Saturday nights. I feel pretty good on the weekends, so I'm think of trying to eliminate a couple of weekdays next week. GL!

  • I take Unisom every night because I'm a terrible sleeper. Before my BFP, I was taking Melatonin....I just can't seem to fall asleep on my own. My doctor says it's safe, so I'll probably take it all 9 months. Makes my life (and everyone around me) better when I sleep.
  • I'm on unisom at night. I'm addicted. I tried to go without it once last week and didn't sleep at all. I'm going to ask my dr tomorrow if I need to quit.

  • I still take it before bed. I've been able to wean off zofran, for the most part, but the nights I don't take unisom I wake up sick/dry heaving. I also have suffered from insomnia for years and it helps with that. I'm sure ill try to come off it again in a couple weeks but may stay on it for the duration of the pregnancy.

  • I just started taking Unisom and it helped. I haven't had morning sickness the last two days so I'm sticking to it ans staying on it for now. I was on it the whole time I was pregnant with my oldest son.

    IT'S A BOY

  • I'm at 16 weeks and was trying to wean off of it over the past week. My nausea has definitely gotten better, but isn't gone altogether. It seemed manageable though, so I did four nights in a row where I just took a quarter of the unisom before bed, and then last night I didn't take it for the first time at all. Let's just say that it was a very, very bad night. Up almost all night unable to fall asleep and extremely nauseous. I might try one more night without it to see if it was just some sort of withdrawal symptoms that might improve.

Anyone know if there is a better way to wean off of it? Or how to tell the difference between withdrawal symptoms and just real nausea that means it's not time to quit yet?

  • Ick, okay. I think I'll keep doing what I'm doing for a while! I have the aches at night way earlier this time than last and definitely worry about how stopping it will effect not only my nausea, but my precious sleep. Not ready to find out!
