Came across this name and I am slightly falling in love with it. I like it pronounced THEE-uh. All the websites show that there a few different ways to say it. Also, can Teddy can be a nn for this? I like Teddy on a little girl (I may be in the minority on that). Thoughts? Opinions? Give it to me straight ladies!

When I first saw the post, I thought of Theo as in Huxtable - the Cosby show, sorry.  Teddy on a girl?  I  then think of Teddy from Full House (Tahj Mowry) so I associate it with male, sorry again.

I was just thinking about this name the other day. I really like it! I dislike the nn Teddy, and it's a little bit of a stretch for Thea, but my sister had a nn that had nothing to do with her formal name, so I think it's fine. I also prefer the way you'd pronounce it.

We named our puppy Thea.  I just loved the name, but would not use it with my last name so wanted to use it some way.  Thea is a greek god/titan.  I also like the nickname Teddy, but perhaps that is from watching too much Disney (Good Luck Charlie).  I hope you pick Thea everyone who hears our puppy's name says we were crazy to use it on a dog.

I like Thea on its own and as a nn for Theodora, Dorothy (Dorothea?), or Althea (in that order).

I don't know why but I pronounce it Tay-uh. I know someone named this but they spell it Tey.ah (which I find horrible) But I'm not sure if it's the same name. I don't really like the pronunciation tee-uh

I think Thea is cute on its own, or as a NN for some of the names already mentioned. Not a fan of Teddy for boy or girl, but I don't think it makes much sense as a NN for Thea. Honestly, if you want the NNs, I would suggest using Theodora, and then she could have the option of Thea or Teddy in case she hates one or the other.

I actually know a Thea.  I think its a pretty name.  But I know that my co-worker has had lots of troubles getting people to pronounce her name correctly (not sure if you care about that).  I don't think Teddy works well for a nn and I don't like Teddy on a girl.

I knew a little girl named Cynthia and went bu Thia.  I think it's cute!

Yep! Good Luck Charlie her name is Teddy & I found out her real name is supposed to be Thea. LOL. Either way I LOVE Thea on it's own but also don't hate Teddy either.

DS1 is Theodore NN Theo so I do like Thea. Not fan of Teddy for a girl, especially if it is just Thea as the full name. I think you'd need to use Theodora as the full name to use a NN with Ds in it, kwim?
