Baby Names

Give it to me straight ladies....

Okay we have decided on a name for baby boy.

drum roll please.............................

Paxton Alexander

So give it to me straight ladies... what do you think? Good, bad, indifferent?  Will he get beaten up on the play ground or mocked endlessly in school because of the name?

Thanks!

  • NMS, but I don't think that it is anything to be teased over. It isn't common enough to be ordinary, but in a similar vein to lots of trendy names you see these days, so kids he grows up with won't bat an eye.

  • I think of Bill Paxton, but I don't think he'd get beat up for it.  I think it's nice and unique.

  • Not a fan of Paxton but Alexander is great.

  • It does fit several trends:  1. random surname as first name 2. which ends in -on, 3. Pax/Jax/Max etc. names for boys.  These things make it very much NMS, but it's not the sort of name that's going to get him teased.

  • I just don't like Paxton. NMS. Alexander is a good middle name though.

  • Really not a fan of Paxton.  Sounds like another surname trying to convert to first name trend.  Love Alexander though.

I really hate Paxton. I think it will scream "2010's!!!!" for the rest of his life (the way Tiffany screams 1980's!!!!). It's just too trendy.

I agree with this. But I don't think he will be teased by the other kids any more than Tiffany was. Some kids might even envy his stylish name in the way that I sometimes envied Amber and Krystle.

  • agree with PP.

    Paxton is NMS and trendy.

    Alexander is awesome name.

    Ditto.
  • I Love Alexander, but it's a little too boring to me for a FN. I like it very much as a middle

I strongly prefer Pax over Paxton.

    I don't think it's terrible, it's just NMS

Pax Alexander is better to me

  •  I have a common last name so I wanted to avoid the top 10... really top 100 for our kids. We had a really difficult time agreeing on a name 2 yrs ago, but we named our son Paxton Michael.  We have gotten some looks, some "what is it again?" and some Angelina Jolie comments (she has a Pax) but for the most part people really like it.  One of my mom's coworkers even "stole" his name and named her son Paxton James. And TBH, I like the fact that some people don't like it.  Hopefully it will never be a popular name.
I LOVE it.  It fits him and I love the meaning. It's different but not weird, strong and masculine and has a cute NN yet it will still mature with him.  We have met one other IRL and there are at least 2 other moms here on TB with boys named Paxton.
I vote yes for Paxton Alexander :)

This was my thought exactly. Bill Paxton. And the name is unique, but not anything no one's ever heard of or can't spell. If you love it, go for it!

  • I actually like it!  My cousin and my friend both used the name Paxton and it's cute.

  • Well I don't think he is going to get bullied in that manner because of his name. Statistically that is not why children bully.

However I can't say I like Paxton. I really like Alexander though! Have you considered Alexander Paxton?

  • I have only heard it on girls....which I don't like either.

Paxton sounds baby-ish, I can't imagine a 12 year old boy with this name. Makes me think of TamPax.    Sorry, you said to be honest.

  • I like it, and I'm hard to please when it comes to names.
  • I'm sorry but this name is terrible.

  • It's NMS, but I think you should use it if you like it!  I have a friend with a little boy named Patton...cute and unique.  Just an alternative for you.
  • I think it is cute. The nn Pax sounds adorable.
  • I'm not a fan of random surnames turned FNs, even though I can see the appeal of a prefix that means 'peace'.

    Alexander is very nice.

  • Paxton is a lovely name with a great nickname (Pax). It's true that its popularity has skyrocketed since 2010, but it's still not in the top 200 in the US. I like that both the FN and MN have the x.

  • Paxton is bad. It reminds me of Tampax. There's nothing even remotely good about this name. It looks made-up, is trendy and it's hard to see a professional man with this name.

    Alexander is fantastic though!
