  • It can happen at any time and this is one of the reasons that they check your blood pressure and urine at each visit and why visits become more frequent closer to the end of pregnancy.  Since I am at increased risk of it because of a blood test, my doctor advised me to even go to the pharmacy to check my blood pressure as often as possible toward the end and be on the lookout for symptoms: sudden facial/hand swelling, feeling dizzy and/or nauseaus, general malaise.

See my clinic doesn't urine. They did it with the original lab work at the beginning, and when I went in to L&D with a spotting scare, that's it. I do find it odd that they don't...

If your pressure goes up they will probably do a urine test.

I had pre-e with my first and started showing signs at week 22.  Week 29 was put on bedrest and had an emergency c-section at 33 weeks.  If you have any signs of pre-e you should let your doctor know.  It can happen at any time and occasionally after delivery.

  • It can happen anytime.  My last pregnancy I didn't start showing signs of it until 36 weeks, then they started seeing an increase in the protein in my urine and my blood pressure went up.

  • I asked my MW at my appt today and she said usually around 30 weeks. That is just the general rule of thumb though.
