post partum hormonal changes... hair and fingernails

my son is 5 months old. for the past 2-3 weeks I have been shedding like crazy, I actually think that my hair is starting to thin in the front. I have also noticed that a few of my fingernails have become very flat on top. I know that may sound odd but its a noticeable change and I believe that a lot of health issues can be detected through the shape, color and durability of your nails.

have any of you noticed similar issues pp? I also ebf ... I am having routine blood work done but I think that I may schedule a doctors appointment just to be on the safe side.

glad to see i'm not alone on the hair thing.  i am definatly thinning in the front.  i fill my hairbrush daily and have for weeks now.  not having issues with the nails though. really hope this doesn't last too long.

Hair and nail changes post pregnancy are 100 normal and related to hormonal changes. It will last a few months usually starting around 3 or 4 months

My hair is not only falling out, it's super dry. I def notice a difference from pg to ppg.

I haven't noticed any changes in my fingernails but I'm still taking prenatal vitamins.  Did you stop taking prenatals?  That might be a cause for the change.

As far as hair, I lose handfuls every time I wash my hair and then brush it out.  It's completely normal.

My nails have actually gotten stronger since I've had LO, but my goodness the hair loss is absolutely ridiculous! I will play with LO and she will end up with hair in her hands and on her and it's EVERYWHERE! SO hates it because the drain gets clogged so easily now!

My hair is definitely thinning in the front, and it's all over the shower! DH is a little grossed out. My hair is also really dry. It pretty much looks like crap, which is disappointing since it looks so fab while I was pregnant.

 Another thing I've noticed is that I get super hot at night. Prior to getting pregnant, I was cold all the time. I slept in flannel pants, long sleeve shirts and socks all while curled up under a big comforter. Now I wake up sweating at night even in shorts and a t-shirt. I don't know if this is post-preggo hormone related or what. But it's definitely new for me! Our thermostat is on 65 and I would turn it down to 60 if it weren't for DS! My husband is thrilled at the lower power bill this winter.

May hair started falling out like crazy right around the 4 month mark. Same thing happen to my twin sis. Nothing noticeable to my nails has happened so far though.

DS will be 5 months old next week. My hair is falling out, like crazy. Another girl on my BMB is actually having to use Drano on her shower every few days. So, I don't think it's abnormal.

My fingernails are a lot thinner and breaking easier. I EP. All of these hormonal changes are normal, from what I've read.

My nails are also flat suddenly and it's concerning me. My daughter is 6 months and my nails have flattened out over the last three weeks. Did you ever figure out what was causing this? Did it go away?
