I personally know one boy Avery and a few girl Averys. I personally think it sounds a lot like an aviary (a bird home) so I think girl just because birds seem girly to me...But I also LOVE the name Avery; it was on our list.

I have a 17 year old nephew named Avery and an old friend has a 3 year old daughter named Avery as well. I always thought it was a boys name because of my nephew until recently.
Re: Avery
I believe it's unisex.
In my mind I always think of it as a girl name.
Well as a preschool teacher I've only heard it on girls now.
Avery was the brother's name from Charlotte's Web though!
This!! But I do have a good friend who used it for her daughter.
It's a nice unisex name.

I've always thought of it as a boy's name or a surname even. It wasn't until recently that I realized that people were naming girl's Avery.
Personally, I hate it on a girl. But apparently it's a really popular girl's name. *shrug*
I agree!
