What to put in sippy cup?

DS is starting to get the hang of drinking out of a sippy cup! I had been putting water in the cup while he was practicing since he wasn't really drinking anything. Now that he does drink what should I be putting in there? He is still only drinking one to two ounces right now. I EBF and really don't respond well to a pump so I don't think I can get enough BM for him to drink anything.

What are you all putting in sippy cups at this point?

Re: What to put in sippy cup?

  • I'm putting in water. I remember working with my first LO to get her to be able to use a sippy, yeah DS just picked it up and started drinking from it no problem. He doesn't drink more than an oz. I EBF and then started supplementing around 8 months with my DD. She never did well with a bottle so I started putting formula in her cup and by around 9-10 months she was off bottles and only used a straw sippy, made the bottle transistion very easy.

  • Definitely water.  I EBF and my son is still a huge water lover at 2 years old!  DD is getting the hang of the straw sippy already from watching DS and she gets water too.

  • I just started trying to use sippy cups with my dd and she hasn't really gotten the hang of it yet but I just put water in it. Once she does get the hang of it I will probably just keep putting water in it. Maybe juice if she is constipated.
