So my son just celebrated his first birthday and Christmas in the same two week period. Needless to say, it looks like Toys R Us blew up in our apartment!!!
I'm totally cool with having toys around for him to play with, but I just need some kind of way that I can pick everything up and out of the way at the end of the day to be able to vaccuum, walk, etc.
I was thinking maybe a big ol' soft wicker basket? But then the stuff at the bottom would probably never get played with...
What do y'all use for toy storage? Is there any way I can crawl out of this toy clutter?!
Re: Toddler toy storage?
I have one of these:

Emily 8.8.08
Madeline 1.2.11
William 8.5.12
i rotate toys and find they play with more when less is out. So i have one or two large storage boxes and put away 50% of what they have for a month or so (until they look bored) then switch it out.
I tried the bins but my kids can take the bin out, dump it all over the floor and make a huge mess, then walk right over it to the the next bin/basket/bucket....
Now I do stations. So in one corner will be all the thomas the trains (wood) and the play kitchen with all its stuff. Upstairs will be little people racetrack and farm, with a huge play tent and in the storage bins I will have other toys, play tunnels, painting stuff (play doh will be out or wonder color), and so on. Also found if I move the toys when I do the reshuffle they get excited about the toy again!
I use something very similar.
This.
We use the Ikea Kusiner Box with lid. It is super soft and collapsable so they can't get hurt on it!

I'm a mom of 4 boys and I invented these a couple of years ago after Christmas because I was experiencing the exact same thing you are. I'm just now brining these to market, but got great Mom reviews during development and testing. My goal was that they would be easy for the kids to use, fully contain the toys and can go anywhere. Let me know what you think.
