Sorry, this is a bit long. I think I give too much information :P
I have seen/heard a lot about calf cramping in pregnancy and fortunately I have not had much. However, I have a ton of thigh cramping! It hasn't been too bad, and I usually get it at night. After sleeping, I wake up fine and have no problems.
However, last night before bed, I got a bad pain/cramp in my left leg. It's just above the knee on my inner thigh (not up high by my hip/pelvis). It was very painful and I tried lots of things - stretching, walking, drinking water, massaging it. I took some potassium as well (I take it for my heart already) as I know that can help with cramping too.
Well, it did not go away. However, I somehow fell asleep (I was pretty tired). I woke up a lot during the night as always, and would roll over or whatever but I didn't really notice anything. Well this morning after I woke up, the pain is still there! I can't believe that it didn't go away when I was sleeping. It hurts to even walk.
I can alleviate the pain a tiny bit if I find the right position to sit in. Putting my feet up does not help and seems to make it worse. I basically have to sit like I'm in a wooden straight-backed chair. Not comfortable at all! I don't know how to get rid of it and I'm in a lot of pain.
I even tried to look up stuff online, cause I know there's a lot of info about calf cramping, but all I found about thigh cramping was upper thigh pain that could equal sciatica, the pelvis expanding, even deep vein thrombosis. This is lower pain, not upper. A little more information in case you need it: I didn't do anything strenuous before it came on; I'd been at a Christmas banquet and did a bit of walking, and I did wear my first pair of heels since I've gotten pregnant. But they were low chunky heels, not anything bad, and my feet didn't hurt or anything.
Any one else have this?? Any advice? I'm not having a good morning over here, haha!
Sorry for the novel!
Re: Leg Cramping
I second the gatorade or increasing your water intake. Have you tried some tylenol before bed?
Stretching, warm showers. Sigh ... If it keeps up, you could also call your OB just to check.
Unfortunately, leg cramping during pregnancy is common and ANNOYING! I'm sorry!
