Nbr: straight talk?

Anyone have straight talk wireless?  Right now DH and I pay about $86/month for our non-smart phones...that means no data, no data messaging, nothing but talk/text.  The straight talk company says its $45 per month, which would be a total of only like five more for both of us and that plan has data and everything we don't have....seems too good to be true, but it says they use the AT&T and tmobile signals, so seems lie, the service would still be good. Anyone use it?

Re: Nbr: straight talk?

  • No, but one thing to look into is if you have to pay the $600 for a new phone.  DH looked into the TMobile $50 a month with no contract and we would have to pay almost $1100 up front for new phones, so we decided to stay with our older phones and Verizon's unlimited plan that we have as the math ended up being about the same.

they have some phones for $79 that seem to have decent reviews, also one of our phones is capable of doing all that stuff, so for that one we could just switch the SIM card...

  • It runs off of Tmobile, they don't have 4g and often run off 2g signal. Which is horrible. Depending on what your looking for I can suggest even a no contract plan that will give you much better cell signal and get a good phone. I'm a GM at best buy mobile cell phone location so I know the plans inside and out. If you want to save money and have the bells and whistles look into either virgin mobile or boost mobile. They run off sprints network. If you dont need unlimited talk you both can get 1500 min each snd unlimited text/web for 45 a month no contract. if you want unlimited talk its 55 and yes you can get true 4g. From me use to living in Southern California I would recommend Verizon or sprint for best reception but of course they have coverage maps so you can check your exact location. Unfortunately the maps aren't always accurate. Verizon never lies. Now if you have ATT or Tmobile now and your phone coverage is ok then you would be ok. But I personally would never recommend Tmobile especially if you want data. They do tend to have the slowest and don't have true 4g. Some of their plans are less expensive but now you can build another plan and get close to the same with much better data speeds.

I hope that kind of helps. I

If you look at the Sunday ads the have pricing from 80200. Honestly samsungs are one of the best phones but are pricier. LG has good ones with virgin mobile, boost mobile you can get Samsung or even the Kyocera hydro which can get wet. The hydro was 99 before I went on maternity leave so I'm not sure the pricing. But boost mobile will be 10 more a month, they do have the shrinkage plan so every 6 months it goes down 5 but it's also unlimited everything.
