Hendersonville

Any Hville mom's have a pit free natural birth at Hendersonville medical?

I gave birth there 3 times and I always get induced at 39 weeks and I it just dawned on me the last time that it wasn't necessary and I was just doing what the dr asked. I also went into labor on my own last time the day I was going in to induce and they said it was going fast..great contractions and all..so I asked if we could skip the pit and they said no and gave me a "smaller dose".

So I'm wondering if its even possible to have a pitocin free birth there? The local midwife does not accept my insurance and hubby doesn't want to go to Vandi so I think I'm stuck at Hville. Ive been considering doing it at home and just calling the paramedics to help out..lol

  • Yikes! I am due in Jan and I'm planning on going med free at Hendersonville Medical. I REALLY don't want to be induced.

  • Yikes!  I don't know.  I had my first September 2011 at Vandy.  My OB, Dr. Brown, is pro natural birth, and Vanderbilt was also wonderful.  I would be very wary of a hospital that won't let you do what YOU want, just because it isn't their 'normal' procedure.  I wanted a home birth, but my hubby said absolutely not.  My OB no longer delivers at Vanderbilt, so we will be using Baptist this time around, but I wouldn't go anywhere without Dr. Brown, haha.  Find yourself an OB that will support your decisions, one that you are comfortable with and trust, so if pit is necessary, so be it, but if not, you are supported.  I'm sorry the midwife doesn't accept your insurance :(  How far along are you?  I think I'm around 8 wks this time around, so I'm still hugging the toilet daily, haha!

  • I ended up talking to my OB at Hendersonville about my natural birth plan and he shot most of it down. He had never heard of someone laboring in water or a shower. He said once my water was broken or I was in active labor I could not leave the bed.. Not even to pee or the baby will DIE. Lol stupid. I could skip pitocin if I went into labor on my own before 40 weeks and he would induce me at 40. If I got to skip pit I would still be given pit after my birth because you know.. If I don't get it I will DIE.
My hubby heard it all and agreed we should drive to the vanderbilt midwives and now I'll get every possible chance to have my natural birth.. YAY!!!

Even if your dr is okay with your birth plan you could end up with my dr if yours is not on call when you go into labor. That's one thing that made me not want to go to hville again.
  • Regardless of where you deliver stand up for yourself and refuse to be induced unless it is absolutely necessary. Sometimes doctors will do that for their own convenience.
