is making me want to rip my hair out strand by strand. My partner had a legal name change in August of 2011. We are trying to get a corrected birth certificate. When I first sent in the paperwork for this, they had a 10-15 day processing time. Now, suddenly, it's at 10-12 WEEKS. This is the ONLY piece of paper holding up our homestudy process.
I can submit a copy of my partners original certified birth certificate with a certification of the court ordered name change, but the agency can't seem to tell me if that's sufficient (I mean, it should be, it was sufficient for the federal gov't but they seem to be ruled by their own set of odd rules). I have a call into them now (their all at lunch! said the overly perky receptionist) to see if they will give me a definitive answer on the bc/name change issue. Otherwise, we're out until the middle of February. GRRR.
