Maine Babies

*Rachelxx05*

Hi :)

I was just wondering how the transition has been going from 1 to 2 kiddos!  I think it's finally hitting me that I'm going to have another actual child in a few months, so now I'm pretty curious about how it all works. :)

I hope things are going well, Penny is so beautiful!

  • Hey!

Well, we've been home just over 48 hours and things are going alright.  Penny is pretty easy going but I am a bit overwhelmed.  There's things I want to do for Gabriel that I just can't yet and we both get frustrated.  I want to pick him up soooo bad but he's like 36 pounds so that's out of the question...

He's coping.  He likes Penny, he giggles when she burps/sneezes/squeaks but he runs and hides when she cries.  He's tried to get in her swing and use her pacifier.  He laid on the floor and did this weird fake cry, so we've been trying to be so gentle with him and let him get these things out of his system.  I expected something, him to act different but I didn't know how it would pan out.  His sleeping schedule is whack but he is eating better now that I'm home, less tantrums too... I SAH and was gone five full days so he had a rough time.

I BF and he likes to cuddle with us while doing so, sometimes just sits really close and watches t.v.  He gets jealous outwardly only when DH holds her, but I can for hours and he doesn't mind.

DH works midnights so it's been good having him around during the day.  That will be changing in a few months and I don't want to think about it yet.  Even though she's already here, it makes me nervous.

If you want to ask me again in a few weeks or month how things are then, feel free to do so!!!  Everything is so brand new so I'm sure I'll have new things to tell you!

  • Thanks so much for your honesty about it all-- sounds like he is doing pretty well adjusting.  We were thinking about signing Eva up for a "I'm going to be a big sis" class at the hospital, so maybe we will go ahead with that. I think she'll be more jealous over my DH than me as well.

Anyway, good to hear things are going well.  From what I understand the initial adjustment is the toughest, and it's good to get some perspective on what it might be like

Take care, and keep up the good work, mama!
