Parenting after a Loss

I miss my good sleeper

So since B was 10wks old he started STTN.  He would sleep from 10pm until about 6 or 7 and then eat and fall back to sleep until around 9.  This past week he's been waking up earlier and earlier and last night he woke up at 1:30am, 4am, 6am and then stayed up at 7:15am.  I am exhausted and I don't understand what may be causing this?  We haven't changed his routine at all.  Anyone else experience this around 3m old?

Re: I miss my good sleeper

  • Ugh...bummer!

Have you tried moving his bedtime up a bit?  Maybe he's too tired??  I know it doesn't work for everyone, but both of mine started sleeping longer stretches when we moved up their bedtimes.

  • DD had a little sleep regression around then, too. I figured it was her three month growth spurt. She did go back to normal, after a week or so.

We've tried putting him down around 8-9 after his bath and bottle and he will fall asleep but then wakes up at 10 or 11 hungry.  I think he's just used to getting a bottle at that time?  It's DH and my fault because he would fall asleep around 7 and we would wake him at 10 or 1030 feed, change, and burp him and then put him to bed in his crib.

This.  And then she hit a 4 month sleep regression, and then a 6 month sleep regression/sickness/separation anxiety/teething

I think our good sleepers are going to hit quite a few rough patches on the way to toddlerhood :)

  • That's a pretty typical night in my house. You get used to the lack of sleep eventually.

Ahhh...yes.  We did that with DS1 until one of my coworkers (one of my good friends) asked me why I was waking him.  It was like a light bulb went off in my head.  We were luckier though, he fell right back into going to sleep at 7 (with MOTN feedings for quite some time).

Hmmm...I wish I could help!  Maybe just try slowly move up the bedtime...like 15 min at a time.

  • It's possible it's a growth spurt. Typical ones are 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months. Just throwing it out there as a possiblity!
