My LO eats the same thing every morning- when she wakes up I always give her a waffle or a piece of toast or muffin while i make her some sausage or bacon, and then she has a large amount of fruit (LOVES IT)... but i feel like breakfast is getting boring because there is no variety. she used to love eggs but now she wont eat them. what do you give your small toddlers for breakfast? she is 14 months and feeds herself but not great with a spoon/fork without help. thanks ladies!
Re: Need new breakfast ideas please!
She will usually have a combination of 2-3 of these things:
-yogurt
-1 egg scrambled with 1 tbsp. of shredded cheese
-fruit : cuties are a new fav right now, strawberries, blueberries, banana
-no sugar added applesauce
-toast with a small bit of butter (we still haven't introduced peanut butter, but that's an idea for you)
-small blueberry muffin, or some other kind of muffin. I usually make a dozen and freeze them and pull one out when I need it.
-mini bagel with some cream cheese
-cheerios
-mini pancakes
Breakfast is the easiest meal for me to think of stuff!
We do any of these in combinations:
Oatmeal
Scrambled eggs with cheese
Yogurt
Cream of Wheat
Cheerios
Variety of fruit
Toast
Applesauce
Other days she gets scrambled eggs and turkey sausage. She always gets fruit since she loves fruit. Her favorites are grapes, bananas, and berries.
If she doesn't eat much I will offer her a yogurt smoothie which she likes.
DD usually has a scrambled egg, but we also do 1-2 of the following:
fruit, yogurt, toast with pb or just butter, bagel with pb or cream cheese, english muffin, pancakes (pumpkin, chocolate chip, banana, etc.), french toast
We have basically 4 things in rotation (unless we have something for dinner that would work for breakfast like quiche):
-maple instant Irish oatmeal w/ fruit and sometimes yogurt
-omelet with cheese (sometimes spinach or broccoli) w/ fruit
-sausage
- waffle or pancakse w/ fruit
Ugh I hate breakfast too. DD doesn't really like to eat fruit or toast. Our list is very short.
Yogurt - This is a huge mess but she loves it.
Pancakes - I make a batch & freeze them so it's easy.
Nutrigrain bar
Cereal - Usually only if I'm eating it.
Strawberries - When we have them.
Eggs - On the weekends when DH makes them
There are some ideas on Pinterest I want to try.
I will sometimes make oatmeal and sweeten it with honey or maple syrup or applesauce and then scramble eggs into little pieces and mix them in the oatmeal. My DD won't eat eggs either (or cheese!) so I try to get them in there.
Look up Quinoa Porridge on Allrecipes.com. it's really yummy!
Pancakes (and make with an egg)
Biscuit with jelly or sausage gravy
Peanut butter and banana smoothie
Yogurt
eggs
fruit
muffins
waffles/pancakes
toast
This morning he had a croissant with some mascarpone cheese and berries.
We generally do a combo of these:
banana or other diced fruit
fruit puree pouch with baby oatmeal mixed in (in a bowl)
pancakes
waffles
sausage
croissant or muffin
cheerios
cheese
