OK ladies. This is baby #1 for me. When do you / did you start registering for your baby registry?
And, how do you even start to decide what to put on it? I don't even know the basics of what I'm going to need, let alone how to choose between the 50 million brands of baby bottles
My husband mentioned it might be a good idea for me to register before Christmas and tell people to just buy stuff from the list. I like the idea, but I dont even know where to start....
Re: Baby Registry
Put on the registry things u will need duplicate of bottles nipples drying racks, blankets, onsies, possible infant medications like gas relief or tylenol, crib sheets, mobiles, and many more.
Go do the registry with another mom they can help you make good choices.
Make a pregnancy ticker
Try to go with another mom, it makese it so much better.
when i went, I first went with my mom and sister to figure what we needed. Later I went with DH and decided on which brand or style of the items we needed.
IMO, it is a little early to go yet, especially if you plan on finding out the sex. But if you have the time and want to get it done, go for it. Just remember to keep updating it because they disobtinue Lot of styles when the new styles come out, so they might not have the style you registered for in a few months
Lucie's List is an awesome website and resource. She has a registry cheat sheet and walks you through what you really need and what brands she recommends.
I also like the Hellobee website/blog and they have great registry guides as well.
I personally think its way too early to register and am asking family for a low key Christmas instead of buying things now.

While I think it's quite early to register, this is the time to research some of the major items you might want like furniture, monitors, bottles, car seats, strollers, PnPs, etc so that you can be prepared when you head off to the stores. Some stores like Target and Walmart change their baby section seasonally and things you put on there now may be unavailable in a few months. If people want to buy you baby things for Christmas, they probably will get you things in the form of unisex baby clothes, blankets or stuffed animals/toys.
I think generally people register after 20 weeks, especially if they intend to find out the sex of the baby for picking out gender specific colors and items.
I like the idea of going with another mom, but do keep in mind that all babies (and moms) are different. One of my friends swears by her bouncer and tells everyone to get a high quality (=expensive) one, while another friend tells me that her baby absolutely hates the bouncer.
So start with the basic stuff that you really, really need.
Like a PP poster said, Baby Bargains was indispensable to me when deciding what to register.
I started my registry after my NT scan with my last pregnancy, but I kept it private until after my anatomy scan. I basically used it as a checklist while I was doing all of my research during that time.
For the most part, I put items on my registry online instead of going in to the store. I went to the store a few times to look at the items in person if I was having trouble deciding, but it wasn't so overwhelming at that point because I already had a pretty good handle on my registry. You'll want to make sure that the items you put on your registry are carried in the store though (BRU has this feature on their website) because most people are not going to take the time to order something and would prefer to just buy it at the store.
