Toddler moms: How do you get tylenol into your kid?

Poor DD is sick. She is running a fever. I am at my wits' end with the battles we fight trying to get children's tylenol into her. Sometimes she will surprise us and take it without a fuss, but invariably when she's really sick she absolutely refuses to take it and we have a pitched battle that ends with her getting maybe half her dose and DH, DD and me all covered in sticky goop. We have tried the little cup, the dosing syringe, a spoon, mixing it in juice, and a special dosing spoon, all with no luck.

How do you get tylenol into your toddler?

Dosing syringe, small shots shot into the very back of his mouth and I shoot when he wails.  He opens his mouth to scream, I shoot, then he has to swallow. I usually give about 1ml per shot.  He'll usually take it pretty easily, but that's what I do when he won't cooperate.  It could also be that she doesn't like the flavor.  There are several brands we've tried that he hated.

With the dropper. She loves it though. Advil is her favorite and she actually begs for it even when there is no need.

DS is a weirdo and loves it!  Can you try applesauce or yogurt?

Oh, that stinks.  DS loves Tylenol and Advil, but when I had to give him Clavanox for his ear infrections it was a total battle.  We got to the point of squirting it back as far as we could when he wailed.  Sad but true.

Ooh, good idea, I think we'll try the applesauce since our juice trick no longer works.

Karen, I think you might be right about the flavor also - she rejected the strawberry Tylenol and the strawberry Pedialyte, so maybe she doesn't like the flavor.

Dropper. 

If he resists, when he opens his mouth I squirt some in...and keep repeating that until the dose is done. 

And ditto the Advil.  We call it "Grape Ape".  If he's not out of his gourd in pain (damn teething) he sucks it right down.

Advil. Definitely Advil.  DS will fight Tylenol, but loves Advil.  Why fight an already miserable toddler when you can give them something yummy instead?

I feel really lucky that DD just leans back and takes whatever I give her regardless of how icky it tastes...  I like the apple sauce idea though!  GL!

I do a tricky method of holding her arms down with one arm and then squirting it in her mouth while she screams with the other. Then, I blow on her face to make her swallow.
