Just a little reminder...they got 12 eggs, which 10 were mature and 8 had fertilized. All 8 are still hanging in there! They are all 8 cell and he said 4 were excellent quality and 4 were good quality. Not sure what that means, but sounds good! I guess the IVF veterans probably know this, but the embryologist told me that I can actually expect a decrease in quality b/t now and Thursday (transfer day)...and that they almost always have 1-2 make it to transfer and 30-40% of the time you will have some to freeze. That doesn't sound like a very high statistic! So after my relief of hearing that all 8 were doing good, now I just have to keep on stressing....boooo.....
Re: Update!
Kimber, that is such an amazing report, I'm so happy for you!
The difference between "excellent" and "good" probably has to do with the level of fragmentation. The excellent ones probably have <20%, whereas the good ones probably have between 20% and 40%. It's not worth getting into beyond that, since everything will change between now and Thursday.
On Thursday, your goal is an expanded blastocyst, but don't be upset if it's just an early blast. You might also have a morula, which is one step behind a blast. In my case, last time I put back 2 blasts and a morula. I think I had an expanded (or close to it) blast, an early blast, and I don't recall if/how they graded the morula.
I know they say to expect a drop-off in quality between now and Thursday, but FWIW, I still had 5 of 5 (at 3 days) (blasts and morulas of varying qualities) to choose from at day 5. Granted, they weren't all rockstars, but my RE would have felt ok putting any of them back.
I feel very optimistic about this, to the point you might even get some frosties from this cycle. So excited and wishing the very best for you on Thursday!
