Fenugreek Users Come In

After posting about and trying one larger flange size on Tuesday with no better results I called a lactation consultant. We are trying an herbal mixture my birthing center recommends with fenugreek, blood thistle, and goats rue. She said I should see results in 3 to 4 days.

Anyone care to share their experience with lactation herbs? I'd like to know what to expect.

The biggest thing I want to share is be prepared to smell like maple syrup! And that you're supposed to take three 610 mg capsules a day. Also, proceed with caution when you stop taking it because I heard that you have to wean off of it (in order to keep your milk supply up). Hope it helps you!

I'm also curious I went to buy fenugreek yesterday I read the label before I bought it and its says not recommended for women who are breastfeeding... so I got scared and decided to to buy it until i did more research

Fo' rizzle. I smelled like a big old pancake for a month. It didn't do much for me, so I stopped.

Yes I meant 3 to 4 days, stupid mobile bump. The lactation consultant told
me about the maple syrup and weaning. Did you guys see results? I just started drinking the full dosage of mothers milk tea and I think it has helped some so I am really home the herbs help me meet my pumping goal.

I definetly noticed an increase after about a week of taking it. It helped me get through the growth spurt and to pump like a fool to increase my frozen supply.

It'll up you a few ounces. I used to take it with first DS. Smelled like syrup, lol!
