I am looking for some good breastfeeding books to read prior to baby #2's arrival. I had a terrible time breastfeeding with my first. I won't go into all the details but did end up switching to formula after a couple of months. I REALLY want to give this another try with baby #2 but want to read up prior to his/her arrival. I didn't do much reading about breastfeeding with my first and mainly focused on WTEWYE. I don't feel the need to read that chapter by chapter this time since I have had a baby. But not breastfeeding DD longer is still something that I think about almost 3 years later.
So please recommend some good ones for me.
TIA!
Re: Prepping for Baby #2
The american academy of pediatrics - New mothers guide to breastfeeding is really good, it is small and quick to read.
I also liked the LLL Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. It has been my go to guide for troubleshooting since I started, and reading it really helped me to get ready for breastfeeding. Just a fair warning, I felt it was a little extreme in many of their positions (ie anything but a home birth without IV fluids will decrease your chance of breastfeeding success) but just take those extreme positions for what they are - and focus on the actual breastfeeding parts.
BFP#1 10 wk missed mc
BFP#2 DS born at 40+2 on 8/14/12 BFP#3 DD Born at 39+3 on 5/13/14
I really liked the book Breastfeeding Made Simple.
Also, the website Kellymom.com is a good resource.
Best wishes!

First of all, don't feel too bad about switching to formula. With DS, I had a hell of a time breastfeeding, and there were plenty of times I thought about making the switch.
I don't have any book recommendations, because I didn't read any breastfeeding books. I just wanted to say that my experience with the second kid has been much better and much easier. So know that just because the first one was hard doesn't mean the second one will be.
