One of my partner's colleagues brought in a box of hand-me-downs for the baby today and I'm way more excited than perhaps I should be. Baby stuff! Free baby stuff!
The word you're looking for is SEX. I promise. No, it's not gender. It's sex. You're welcome.
Yes, my best friend and my sister-in-law both give me their sons' clothes when they outgrow them. We really haven't had to buy anything for our son yet, which has been such a blessing.
We made the announcement that we were having a boy this weekend and all at once we got the "I've got a bag of clothes for you" text messages. It's awesome. We were hoping to have another girl so we could just re-use what we've already got, but this is just as good. I love hand-me-downs!
My good friend has a six month old, so she has been passing along a bunch of stuff plus maternity clothes! with the agreement we'll just cycle through things with our babies till they have to be tossed. And then the family I nanny for has promised me anything they have left that I want their twins are 3.5 though, so most of their stuff has already been given away, and then they have neighbors with twin 2 year old girls whose mom keeps bringing me bags of clothes. Loving this!!

I love hand-me-downs! I just recently had to start buying clothes for my DD, and she is almost 2.
We haven't been offered anything since we've found out we are having a boy, but I still have my fingers crossed.
I'm also a huge fan of consignment shops for baby clothes. I'm not big on paying full price for baby/toddler clothes. They just grow out of them so quickly or destroy them with stains.

My bff just dropped off a bin of boy stuff yesterday, so happy to have them!
With dd we were team green and my sister has boy/girl twins that are 15 months older, she had the bins by the front door just waiting to hear if it was a boy or a girl. It was great until last winter when dd caught up to her cousin My sisters kids are little and skinny, mine is not
I was very excited with hand me downs with my son and I'm disappointed we didn't get any hand me downs with this baby. I'm surprised because we are having a girl this time.
I just got 40+ year old baby clothes. They were my cousin's who is about 42 or so. And some of them I wore too (I'm 27). I got bell bottom pants. lol. They are pretty cute though. I think I'll dress LO up and take pictures to send to my Aunt but I doubt I'll use most of them.
I am set up to get my BF's son's clothes (she has a 3 yr old & 6 mo boys). So I'm happy about that!
That's awesome! At least your little one will have some unique style! My DH's (who's 33) mom was moving and, although we're team green, I just told him to pick up anything baby he found. Well, he found a whole bunch of baby girl clothing when he was cleaning the attic (he has 2 brothers - no sisters). So, we have a bunch of new clothing that has never been worn and is probably about 20 years old (or more).
Plus, and I'll be totally honest, I'm probably not above putting a pink onesie on a baby boy in the middle of the night when there has been a diaper blow-out at 3AM. But, that's only in case of emergency - and there WILL BE NO witnesses (or pictures) of that!
Our church is excited we are expecting our first. Everyone seems to have 2 or more - so we'll be getting loads of clothing when we find out what we are having! Now to keep them all seperate in case they want them back for their nexts!
My nephew (my brother's kid) is 20 months old and they have saved EVERYTHING! I told 'em to just hand it over! :-) They have great taste so I'm super excited about it.

It's kind of early to call it, no?

DS's wardrobe is probably 85% hand me downs from my nephews! Also, my maternity clothes wardrobe is about 75% from my sister! I love hand me downs! I'm having a girl this time, and unfortunately I don't know anyone who is done having kids who has a girl and that's a bummer - even though shopping for girl's clothes is so much more fun, this could get really expensive! I am handing down DS's clothes to my friend who's having twins, so at least they are going to be put to good use.
Oh girl, I am ROCKIN' the hand-me-downs! As soon as we found out it was a girl, I told the people with girls first and already scored a play kitchen, several boxes of baby clothes, one of those hiking backpack baby carriers, a play saucer, and a crib!
Yes! One of my husband's Officers gave us 4 trash bags full of girl clothes! Thankfully we found out we were having a girl just a few days after they dropped them off. We would have just donated them, but were so excited when we realized we could use them! We knocked it down to two bags worth for keeps and two for donation :
I get some from a couple people but usually I have to pick through to find anything still usable. I'm the first in my family and friend group to have kids so pretty much I'm at the top of the hand me down chain. I have storage bins upon storage bins of clothing from DS (and it's almost all in fantasti condition). This LO is supposed to be a girl so next week if that is confirmed we will be pulling out the stuff I can use with a girl and everything else is going to my parent's massive garage to wait for the next person to have a child. Whoever has a boy first gets everything! The same will go with girl clothes if this is a girl, and all baby gear. As s/he uses them, they will go... I'm done storing things (this is our 2nd and last baby). It's liberating to know that I'll get my basement back soonish. )
I accept with open arms!!! A friend of mine has a little girl who is exactly 1 year older than DD, and they are done having kids. Everytime I see her she gives me a couple of the cuter outfits that she can't bear to just give to Goodwill (like nice holiday dresses that were worn once, or Halloween costumes) or a couple toys her kids have outgrown. Its awesome! She also hooked me up with some maternity clothes last time too.

Yes. My SIL has 3 pregnant friends/family members (one of which is expecting twins), so we have been getting hand me downs in a rotation. I'm very excited about free baby clothes.

LOVE hand me downs.
Most of my maternity stuff is hand me down too!!!!!
Hand-me-downs are awesome!
The end.
I had a bunch of people ready to give me baby boy stuff, but since we're having a girl.. it's been very limited.
My sister's best friend had a girl about 4 or 5 years ago, so she provided us with a few outfits.
We also received a really nice bassinet from my boss, a box of baby toys, a high chair and a swing.
I'm hoping to come across some more clothes.. I frequently look on Craigslist and Freecycle as well.
