Call him!  All you need is the number.

Also if you use it anyway you should have him get you an "authorized user" card.  Same number, still his account, but you get a card with your name on it. 

 

We don't use it often at all.  In fact I just put $77 bucks on there for a game a I never play. There's still cyber Monday right?
