Breastfeeding

Increasing hind milk question and needing some support

Greetings Everyone,

I am currently breastfeeding DD#2.  I was able to breastfeed DD#1 exclusively until 6 months and with supplements (formula) until 9 months and then I was totally out of milk.  And the same problem is happening again, but this time it is sooner as DD#2 is only 3.5 months old.

I am working with a lactation consultant and trying some tea, herbs, and power pumping to increase the supply.  Too soon to tell if it is working yet.  (Nothing worked really with DD#1 but trying different things this time)  But it is so hard when DD#2 is hungry and cries and bang on breasts when trying to feed. *sigh*

And now I have notice that when I pump the amount of hind milk that seperates on the top is almost none.  So she is mostly getting foremilk, which of course doesn't last her as long so she gets hungry sooner and while I know this should have me making me more milk, it doesn't seem to work that way...she has even gone on a nursing strike, but at least I have her back to the breast.

Anyone else have this foremilk/hindmilk problem or any suggestions?  I will ask lactation consultant when she calls back on Monday to check in, but I am concerned about it and can't find anything online or in books on how to make more hindmilk.

I know it doesn't help but I am emotional about the whole thing too.  I just am not ready to wean or start formula but we are running low on my frozen supply.  I know it is worth it to try everything and such, just feeling lost right now...
