Funeral?

Have any of you had your baby attend with you? How did it go?

The boys went to dh's dads funeral in August. my mom came and kept them in the back until the end. I didn't want them to see him in the coffin. But they were quiet and entertained with toys. They also attended the graveside service and were quiet, except my oldest kept asking for daddy. But it went fairly well, all things considered.

We took DS to the wake but not the funeral when he was about 5 months old. It was an hour away though, if it had been closer to home, I may have considered taking him and just having someone available to pick him up if necessary.

Yes - at multiple funerals...  It went just fine, I just made sure that we were on an end if I needed to make a quick exit.  There's only so much that you can do but leaving the baby/child with someone else isn't always an option especially if your babysitting options are also attending.
