Ok, so I'm all about attachment parenting and baby-wearing, but a lot of these wraps, quite honestly, scare the crap out of me! Many of them that I've seen are just pieces of fabric- looks like a scarf or something, that you have to wrap yourself around you and baby. I'm a FTM so I'll admit my ignorance, but I'd be terrified that I'd do it wrong and baby wouldn't be supported correctly or would fall out! I'm not particularly good at these kinds of things in general. On top of that, the price tags seem really high to me for something that is just a piece of fabric. Also- is it really possible to get things done while carrying a baby? Can I be cleaning or making dinner, etc., while wearing the baby and be able to move enough to get things done while not disturbing the baby at the same time?
So, what am I missing? Any thoughts/suggestions? I've got a few months before I have to make a decision, but I like to do my research and be on top of things ahead of time.

You are missing the baby :-) It will all make more sense when the squish is here. I didn't get wraps before DD was even 6 months, but then you start seeing the point. It also depends on the baby, some like being worn, others not so much. DD never liked being worn before 6 months for more than 10-15 min at a time, but then she loved it and still does.
That makes sense! Like I said, I like to be prepared, so I'm doing all kinds of research now but with no real practical idea of how it will work in real life!
