Is this too boring for family photos?

I have planned out what outfits we will be wearing for family photos, but I think they may be a little boring. Help me spice it up a little.

DH will be wearing black pants, and white shirt and a black and grey argyle vest-like this:

I was going to wear black pants, a white shirt and a black sweater and DD will be wearing a black and white hounds-tooth dress with black tights and a red cardigan.

Are we way too dull?

I think because your DD will be wearing red it will look nice! You can always add a red scarf to your outfit too.

I agree with kagl. I think you should definitely add a red scarf though!

Thanks all, in my head it sounded good, but when I started thinking about it I was questioning if we'd look more like we were going to a funeral than taking holiday family photos.

I would probably keep your outfits the same and then put DD in red for a pop of color and so she stands out.

I think it depends on where you're taking the photos.  DH's family did photos back when we were engaged and we all dressed in black, white and grey.  We took them outside on their back porch, so there was lots of green and blue around us and they looked great.  If it's going to be in a studio, some more colour might look better.  But you could always just add one colour accent to each of your outfits, like your DD's red cardigan.

Me too!  I think with DD's red sweater it's going to look great.  And I'd probably do a chunky red necklace instead of a scarf.
