1st RSV shot...

Anything I should know? did your babies have side effects? I heard this is a painful shot (aren't they all?) but I've also heard to avoid giving tylenol because it can reduce the efficacy so I'm hoping he's not in too much pain. We are going later today so any tips would be great!

Yes, it stings more than other shots do. DD's shots were so long ago, that's really all I rememeber about them. I don't remember any side effects.

We've had four Synagis injections now and I think they're easier than most shots. When Cora has gotten her regular shots she acts sore and cries for hours afterwards, but acts completely normal after Synagis. They do seem more painful to get and she does cry while they're doing it, but at this point is completely fine as soon as I pick her up off the table.

I'm trying to remember when DD1 got hers (3 years ago). I just tried to make her comfortable and then once she got home I just snuggled with her. I believe I was told to give tylenol afterwards. If sleepiness is a side effect, then that would be the only one I remembered.

Just had ours this weekend.  It was a two second prick, just like their immunizations, where they screamed bloody murder while it was going on, but were fine literally 3 minutes later.  I just kept holding them and saying over and over:  "It's keeping you safe, it's keeping you safe."

The home health nurse stayed for about 20 minutes to see if either had a reaction - which she said has never happened in all the years they've been giving the shot, but they do it the first time just in case.  I assume if you go in for it they will have you wait to make sure.  It would be an anaphylactic reaction, but like I said, it's never actually happened.

She said there isn't the crankiness or fever or things like with immunizations, and there wasn't - the girls were just fine for the rest of the day.

Lo got her first dose on monday in the NICU. They gave her some sugar water on her binkey and she seemed to be happy sucking on that so didn't cry that much. I haven't noticed any side effects.

DS had one before he left the NICU, which was in March...he was really tiny, maybe 5 weeks old, but he didn't seem to have any adverse side effects, and he didn't cry any more than he did with his other shots.  We won't be getting one this season because the insurance won't cover it :-(

I feel very blessed that they are being covered for us this year but outraged at how many people are denied coverage for this shot.  I know I saw a petition on here at some point that people were signing about this... I signed it but does anyone know where it can be found? i want to post it to my FB page again!

I signed the petition through my FB page, which I believe linked me to Change.org.

My DS got the shot last week.  The nurse told us it's a very painful shot, and yes, he screamed, but he was fine 3 minutes later.  No sleepiness or soreness that I could tell, so we did not give tylenol.  They did keep us for 15 minutes to make sure he did not have an allergic reaction.  Have fun.  lol

My lo just got his today. And boy did he scream! Much more then with regular shots. But, he seems fine now. He has just slept since he received it. The doctor said he shouldn't have any reaction to it. I just kept reminding myself that it is what is best for him. I hope it goes smoothly for your lo.

no side effects for either of my twins. They cried when they were giving the injections, but were fine a few minutes later.

Just like the previous posts, DS screamed bloody murder, but got over it within a min or 2.  I dont remember any side effects.

Due to his weight he needed two shots   One in each leg. He cried for each but was ok afterward. His legs seem a bit tender though. He cried when I changed his diaper and clothes :-(

My lo weighs 19lbs 3 ozs and he needed 2.
