Black Friday is ridiculous. It's like The Hunger Games: The Retail Version. Just call me Katniss. I refuse to fight to the death over low priced material items. I'd rather pay full price than ever go shopping on BF.
I totally did not see this before I started the topic that I did. Love it.
I have gone BF shopping for years and have definitely never fought to the death or even been so much a shoved. I like the thrill of the deal especially when you know there aren't very many of a particular item.
I have another one, possibly flameworthy. I'm not sure if this is UO or not here, but it sure is on the boards I read on SP.
I think that weight and BMI are usually good indications of health (not the ONLY ones, but still useful). I know there are exceptions (pregnant women, body builders, etc), but there are also correlations between high BMI and higher rates of cancers, among other things. I do a mental side-eye when people start trying to dismiss BMI as out-dated. No. We're all just fatter, so our perceptions of normal have shifted.
Me either...and I saw a special on Food Network that said that the red dye used in Red Velvet comes from a certain beetle that is crushed up. Now I really don't care for it. Gross, gross, gross.
I'm so sad I read this. I love red velvet cake, and now I will never be able to eat it again. /cry/
Here's my UO, and I'm gonna get sooooo flamed, but... I think... the bishes on the Parenting board may be cooler than we are.
The Parenting ladies are Hi-larious.
I don't like American Idol, The Voice, X-factor. I just don't.
On the issue of 'state aid', I think if you're getting it, you should absolutely be drug tested!!! If you fail, you're kicked off. If you pass, you're good to go. If you're receiving aid and bitching about having to take a drug test...pretty sure you might be admitting your guilt, just saying.
Jesse...why are the Parenting Board ladies cooler? Just curious, because I don't venture off our board too much...the others scare me!
I have another one (inspired by the cool bishes on Parenting). I like my grey hairs. I don't have many, but I think they're pretty and I have no desire to cover them up.

I have no problem with this in theory but I bet it would be a waste of money. For the state that voted for this I'll be VERY curious to see what percentage of people fail the test. I would be willing to bet that the amount spent on testing will be more then what they'll save by not giving people who fail the aid. I also hope that they have some other plans in place for what happens if people fail. If they have kids, I hope it's not just "you failed? Too bad, so sad!" because then it'll be the kids who suffer.

I think it's silly to obsess over buying gender neutral toys. Riley is a girl so I will get her girl toys like princesses. If she wants to play with trucks I will let her but I don't think it's a big deal if she likes girly things
except Barbies. I freaking hate those things and hope that Aria does too.

Mine might piss some people off, but it's been bugging me big time lately.
If you need state aid because you cannot afford groceries for your family, you should not have an Iphone. Futhermore, if you get state aid, you should not be complaining on Facebook and Instagram that you are getting screwed over and not getting enough aid...especially when you post from your Iphone.
Maybe I'm an a--hole, but this really chaps my a--.
I am going to agree with you before I read any of the responses and chicken out. We have a very tight budget month to month. We do not have iphones because the monthly cost of the internet is insane. We do not have state aid but if we went ahead and bought things like iphones and ipads and a lexus and all these nice things I see people with who do have aid then we would probably need it too.
It is called living within your means, whatever those means may be.
ETA- Okay so I read the rest and I have some more opinions...
Gap clothes really are not that expensive. I am all about how much you use something to price ratio. If you buy a $200 dress for your baby and they wear it once I might side eye. But if you buy your baby uggs and they wear them all winter I think they are worth the price. I buy myself one pair of reefs at the beginning of the summer and I live in them. Then I buy a pair of winter flats (toms black glitter this year... so excited) at the beginning of winter and live in them as well. As long as you get use out of something expensive it is worth the money. That said, I also think if you have money to blow and you want to blow it on expensive baby crap that is your right.
I also think robeez are ugly. But yes, good for the feet.
I love amusement parks and love taking my kids to them. Like PP said, LO's are free and it makes me happy. I do think Kellen will be old enough this coming summer to enjoy Disney when we take Logan. Yes, at 4 Logan will enjoy it more, but I think Kellen will have fun too.
My UO- I love Christmas music and side eye people who hate it! Tra la la la la!!

If Jesus had voted in this last presidential election, He would have voted for Obama.
A quote from the awesome TV show NewsRoom:
During Tea Party rallies and campaign speeches, we've been told that America was founded as a Christian nation and that if the Founding Fathers were here today, they'd tell us so. Here's John Adams in the Treaty of Tripoli-- "As the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion--" And here's Thomas Jefferson-- "That our civil rights have no dependence on our religious opinions." And here's the First Amendment to the US Constitution-- "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion." What's more frightening than the perversion of our great history is that sensible, smart, strong Republicans, the very men and women who should be standing up to radical fundamentalism, are so frightened of losing primary battles to religious zealots that they've thrown in the towel on sanity. It's ironic because the biggest enemy of the phony Republican isn't Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid or Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, it's this man (Jesus). He said, "Heal the sick, feed the hungry, care for the weakest among us, and always pray in private."
Ideological purity, compromise as weakness, a fundamentalist belief in scriptural literalism, denying science, unmoved by facts, undeterred by new information, a hostile fear of progress, a demonization of education, a need to control women's bodies, severe xenophobia, tribal mentality, intolerance of dissent, and a pathological hatred of US government. They can call themselves the Tea Party. They can call themselves conservatives. And they can even call themselves Republicans, though true Republicans certainly shouldn't. But we should call them what they are-- the American Taliban.
I think the "would you bang him" thread is nasty. I would be sad if DH looked at pictures of other women and said "I'd bang her". I know it's all jokes...but I think it's gross.

Took the words from my mouth. I think it's messed up that it's OK for women to look at hot guys like that but if our DHs/SOs look at other women then that's not OK. Please no one start the train of "but I don't care if DH look as long as he doesn't touch," "I don't care if he watches porn," etc. We've heard all that before on here. It still astounds me.
