I should add he's a Christmas Eve baby so I have to get something for birthday and Christmas.  So far I ordered 2 Thomas Wooden Talking trains...the new line.  He's a huge Thomas fan but I wanted to get something else too.

Ben just got a Lightening McQueen remote control car and he loves it. It's for ages 3-5 but very easy and intuitive for him to use. In fact, we all love playing with it;)

I have heard good things about Automoblox at that age.  I think there is a 3 mini car set in that price range.
