Name Name Name!!!

DH and i LOVE the name Max but we can't agree on a full name instead of just the nickname. I like Maximus and DH likes Maxwell. we cant seem to find any middle ground other than just Max but Max Shawn doesnt work for me so it's either Maxwell Shawn or Maximus Shawn. im at a totall loss! neither one of us are willing to budge and i dont want to give a name to my kid that im going to hate. :/

Do you have any other suggestions with the prefix Max???

<3 ty ladies!

Re: Name Name Name!!!

  • I know a Maximilian which is a mouthful but it works with Shawn. Then just use Max as the nickname.

  • I like Maxwell, but there's also Maximillian (sp?)  I googled "names that start with Max" and got this site  I typically like very traditional names with traditional spellings, but Maxon popped out at me on that site.

  • Maxwell is okay, but I prefer just Max. I think Max is one of those nicknames that has become super common as just a name on it's own. Everyone assumes Jim is James, but people don't assume Max is short for something.

  • What about just Max?

  • Maximos or Maximillian are great.

  • I love just Max [& I don't worry about flow much - especially not on a boy] but I much prefer Maxwell to Maximus. Maximus sounds like a toy - like a robot, it's not awful but it doesn't sound serious.
  • I agree with PPs. I like Max by itself. If you have to have a "full" name though, I would go with Maxwell.

  • What about Maxfield? Maxfield Parrish was an American artist who drew illustrations for L. Frank Baum and Eugene Field along with his own work.

  • DH's best man was named just Max. I think it works fine as a stand alone name.

  • My brother made a suggestion Maxamos, It's Max + a prophet from the Bible + the spanish word for love.

    Thoughts?

And I dont want to do just Max because i dont like how it sounds with the middle name Shawn. to me it just sounds too choppy. DH agrees with me on this point.

  • I know someone who has a Max (not short for anything). I think it's cute on its own.

If I had to pick, I'd go with Maxwell though.

Can you just name him Max?

Maximus sounds too cartoon-y in my opinion.  If you have to have a "full" name, I'd go with Maxwell.

I agree with this. I prefer Maxwell. I went to school with a Maximilian who went by Max, but I still prefer Maxwell.
