Potty Training

I'm getting frustrated, 3.5 not PT

We are expecting baby #2 in a month. DS1 was doing really well with potty training finally, and I thought he would be fully trained by October... I had hoped. We started buying things for the baby, though, and he suddenly was having "poop" issues where he wouldn't go on the potty no matter what. He was holding it in. So, I researched and read that it was better to revert back to pull-ups and stop PT because the "pressure" of potty training can make them withhold their poop. So, we did that. Then, he tried to go back to potty training and he was doing OK, but then he began withholding his poop again. It's been a vicious cycle. Now, he won't go on the potty at all. I think it has something to do with the baby coming, because he started calling pull-ups, which we have always referred to as "undies", diapers. He even asked for a "baba" because he saw the bottles we bought for the baby. I, of course, told him no, he's a big boy. He hasn't asked for a "baba" in 2.5 years! I'm at a loss as to what to do.

I feel like we're never going to get this potty training thing down. I know his biological father has not put him on the potty in months, too, which doesn't help anything because he goes with him 2 days a week. DH and I are trying, but it seems futile, and I'm increasingly frustrated that his biological father treats pull-ups as diapers instead of trying to potty train him.
