Adoption

Sandy

Hi all. Been off the grid. Thankfully we fared well with no electricity for about 30 hours and about 40 feet of our yards fence was knocked down. Plenty of others still without power. We still have no phones, Internet or tv but that is minor. Logged on from phone. Interesting format this way and no pics. Looking forward to catching up with everyone and hope all east coasters are safe either at home or with friends and family.

  • We fared okay, too.  No flooding, but also no electricity.  We've been out since Monday evening, and although we are running a small generator to keep our phones charged, cook, and keep the refrigerator/freezers going, we're running out of gas and will have to become more judicious about how much we use.  We are also running low on kerosene for our heater (that we use at night; we're all sleeping in one room with it), and that's even harder to find.

Today is my first day back at work.  The boys are out of school until next week, and my husband's working from home.  I took a cold shower yesterday, and think I will head to the gym tomorrow morning for a warm one, if we don't leave tonight for our place in Vermont.  I told my boss I probably won't come in tomorrow.  Sure, it's better here than home, but the rest of the family shouldn't have to hang out just because I have a warm place to go with internet access.

  • I'm glad everyone is safe!!  Ugh, I hope you get power back soon CaptainSerious that has to be hard with two young boys.

  • They've been handling this very well.  In fact, we are so proud of how awesome they've been.  They just spend all day playing together, and although they say they are bored, they keep finding new ways to have fun.  :-)  We're really lucky.
  • Our prayers are with ya'll. I live in South Louisiana so I know what you are going through. The devistation is awful, but you learn what is truly important in life. I'm so glad ya'll are getting the help that you need. So often we get overlooked because we face hurricanes so often. We get so many comments like "well you choose to live in that area so that's what you get." I hate hearing things like that. Good luck with everything, and know that the south is praying for you.
