Hi, this is my first time posting but I've been a reader for a while. I'm 38, almost 39 and I've been TTC for a while. I started this process late because I have severe OCD and I've been medicated for years. I have now weaned off my meds and I'm trying desperately to get prego's before it's too late. I have noone to talk to about this because, each time I mention getting upset or stressed about the waiting and hoping, my family and Hubby tell me maybe I should go back on my OCD meds and give this up! I think stress is normal right? Even mentally strong people would get a little upset after trying for a while and not seeing any results. I don't think it's my illness causing it?? I'm super upset today because I went to my family doctor for help and she reffered me to an OBGYN. I just found out there is a one year waiting list to get in!!! ONE YEAR!! I don't have that kind of time! I don't think I'm ovulating and I want a perscription for Clomid.....simple right??? Not so where I live. Totally feeling defeated today, don't quite know what to do so I came here and vented......I feel a little better now. Thanks for listening, now I'm just gonna go cry for a while before Hubby gets home and catches me.

Re: Getting to old???
Boy are you right about this process turning the most mentally fit person into a crazy nut job. I've suffered from anxiety for most of my life and it's been hard keeping it in check and I'm sooooooo glad I have this outlet to help keep the crazy in check.
I know OBs can be hard to get into but one year is ridiculous! I agree with PP and you should shop for an RE. Clomid is not something that should be taken without medical monitoring eventhough some docs like to give it out like candy & send you on your way. I would also highly recommend charting & using OPKs to help pinpoint if & when you ovulate. This is a great board with wonderfully helpful ladies. Feel free to vent anytime. Welcome to that board!
You are not too old. I will be 39 in late Novemeber and sometimes feel too old for a newborn, but then again I had the same thoughts at 35.
The stress you are talking about it totally normal. Any one who has been trying for a while will tell you that. Please don't feel that it is your OCD. Everyone has stress and trying for a child is HUGE.
I agree with the pp about scheduling an appointment with an RE. A year is a carzy long wait to get in to see any doctor, but especially one that is trying to help you get pregnant.
Also, an RE will better be able to assess your exact needs and help you with which protocol would be most appropriate for you. Good luck!
Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!
BFP #1 6/22/09 EDD: 3/2/10 DS born: 3/8/10
TTC #2 since Dec 2011
BFP #2 7/8/12 EDD: 3/18/12 M/C @ 9w1d: 8/16/12
I def agree with previous posters! Go to an RE not an OBGYN for fertility meds. Also you need proper testing before put on clomid, your partner will also need an SA. you only get to use Clomid 6 times...ever! So no point wasting them if your tubes are blocked or your partner has a low sperm count. Clomid is serious business and you might not even need it.
Good luck!

Please know that all of us ttc go a little crazy trying to get it done..especially because we are older. You are so so not alone! Most of us have good days & bad.
As for getting too old...well, I had my daughter when I was 40. I only started trying again since June. I have hope even though the statistics say otherwise. They did the first time : )
Hang in there!
