Co sleeper suggestions?

Howdy. I'm a FTM2B and I'm in the market for a safe, healthy, inexpensive co sleeper that I can secure to my mattress. I would love an Arm's Reach, but I can't justify the cost for 5 months of baby's life.

I found the First Years co sleeper and the Summer Infant By Your Side sleeper, but I've only seen them online and can't figure out which one would suit me better, or is most likely to be safest and healthiest.

Is anyone here using one of these? Which do you recommend and why?

Thanks for your help!

  • i used the First Years up until 2 days ago when I switchd her to a bassinet.  I think tonight she's going back in the cosleeper.  she seems more comfortable and its easier for me

  • I got my Arms Reach original cosleeper for $60 @ a consignment store.  I did order a new mattress for it b/c I don't like used mattresses so I have $100 in it but I think that's still a good deal.

  • This is what we used- its an Arms Reach brand, sold at WalMart. I've been really pleased with it, and I love the colors. Now that she has outgrown it for sleeping, we rolled it into our living room and use it for quick diaper changes, toy storage, etc. The day I ordered it is was $89 with free shipping to our local store. Looks like today it's listed for $99 but still a good deal, IMO.

  • I got an Arms Reach used via Craigslist--maybe try that route?  I love it :) and it was pretty cheap.

we have this and love it

  • I think it would be more cost effective to use a play yard/pack n play. We have used ours a lot and our son is 2 years old. We have used it in the bassinet/higher position first and then in the lower position (at home, for naps, visiting family and travel). We use the MamaDoo Kids mattress topper for extra comfort and support (the hard board mattress was too uncomfortable). It is firm and folds in 3 (as portable as the pack n play). Good luck!
