Prevacid

I read the post below on Zantac and was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with prevacid?  My pedi just prescribed it for my LO.  Also switched him to alimentum formula because we seem to be having so many problems and we aren't sure if it is acid reflux or a milk protein problem.

Re: Prevacid

  • I just went through zantac and prevacid for silent reflux. Nutramigen and neocate formula for milk protein allergy/intolerance. Nothing has helped my LO. We saw a GI specialist yesterday who diagnosed LO with colic. He recommended probiotics and prescribed levsin drops for bowel spasms. Hoping he outgrows it at 3 mo. Hopefully prevacid will work for your LO.

So sorry you are having to go through all of that!

  • We started it a few days ago and it has definitely helped more than Zantac did. He was on Zantac for 8 weeks and it was just a neverending battle. The only thing I have to say is to make sure you give it to your LO 5-10 minutes before the bottle. It's supposed to be given on an empty stomach. Some mamas on my BMB were having a lot of spit up and found that to be the reason why. It also makes my DS really tired, so if I don't rock him to sleep right after his bottle instead of keeping him up for play time like I do after every other bottle he gets, he turns into a monster.
