Cloth Diapering

Charlie's Soap users

I just bought a small tub of Charlie's soap to use on our cloth diapers, and all of our laundry.  I was looking at the directions on the website for use on cloth diapers, and it says that Charlie's is not antibacterial and that I should use an antibacterial agent with each diaper wash.  What do you use, if you use any at all?  Is it really necessary?  My stash consists of mostly Bumgenius Freetimes and Grovia AI2 with organic cotton soaker pads.

Re: Charlie's Soap users

  • I don't use anything but Charlie's. once in awhile I use oxy bleach and some grapefruit seed extract if I think he has a yeasty diaper rash, but just the Charlie's for normal washing.

  • I don't use anything besides Charlie's. Occasionally I use a tablespoon or two of bleach or tea tree oil.

  • I don't know if it is really necessary, but I put a small amount of oxyclean baby in with the wash with Charlie's soap. I've only been doing this for a few weeks, but so far it is working well.

  • I just use the Charlie's. I use vinegar once a mont or so, also. Especially if we have an extra dirty load.
