Good Morning Ladies.  Heard from the doc this morning.  Soo not such awesome news but not horrible.  He didn't want to eat this morning. She said he was eating like a horse yesterday. My mom went to see him yesterday afternoon and said he had some diarrhea. Doc said he has two large bouts of that throughout the night so she started him on some imodium this morning. She increased his fluid levels again just to make sure he's absorbing them. Checked his kidneys again this morning.. level went down from 3.5 to 3.1. So still high but at least decreasing. Still waiting on the rare bacteria that was found in his urinalysis. She said she may have results back in regards to what the bacteria is but after another day or so of growing it will tell her what meds it's sensitive to.  Won't know about the malignancy panel until next week. 

Initially, she was going to let us pick him up this morning but she wants to keep him throughout the afternoon and see how he does. She's concerned about him not eating. She checked his platelets again this morning and they went down from 70,000 to 50,000 so she said that's not a huge jump.. she doesn't think they need to treat it but she wants to check with the internist to make sure she shouldn't be starting steroids for his immune system.  

She's going to call me today around 3-4pm.  My poor Sammy. I hope he gets better. =( I was really hoping she would call and say that the diarreah stopped and that he's still eating so that makes me nervous.

DH talked to some friends and got some recommendations on some new vets. Needless to say, we will NOT be going back to our vet! That much we know for sure. And thankfully.. the ER hospital is still within the deposit my mom put down.  Whew!

    Well I'm glad that his creatinine level went down, but I'm really curious as to why his platelets are dropping like that.  Hopefully today is just a fluke with his eating and he'll want to eat later. 

    Still thinking about you guys, I hope the next update brings good news.  :)

    That's mostly good news. Keeping you in good thoughts. I'm so glad you took your mom up on her offer to help and saw another vet!!
