boys' haircuts

DS's hair is starting to get long, and I'd like to get it cut.  Is it normal to give a baby a hair cut at this age?  The stylist I asked said most people wait until around 1 year...but I am not a fan of the baby mullet or the baby-boy-that-looks-like-a-girl look.

I was wondering the same thing. My son's hair is long over his ears, so I am considering a haircut for him.

When my son was around 9 months, I just trimmed a little out of his eyes. But he had beautiful black curly hair and I couldn't part with it! He's your son, I say cut his hair when you want. If you're worried about him moving during the cut, my stepmom said that when her boys were babies, she'd wait till they were alseep in her arms then cut their hair! I personally used to give my son my cell phone! And that worked well, until he started calling people!!

We've cut my ds's hair twice already. The first time was when he was about 7 months just around his ears (his curls were curling into his ears and seemed like they were tickling him). The second time was last week. We trimmed around his ears and the back a little.

DS has had two haircuts already. He had his first one when he was around 5 months old. He'll be 10 months on Saturday and I'm trying to schedule his third haircut. I just have my hairdresser do it.

there's no reason why you shouldn't. I think most people wait because their kids don't have a lot of hair before then! if you prefer your son has shorter hair, cut it!

My little man had his first haircut at 4 months.  We've had it cut every 6-8 weeks since then.  We go to the stylist I've been using my whole life.  She is a good family friend and DD is like a great nephew to her.  I usually hold him on my lap and talk to him while she cuts.  He never sits terribly still but with patience we all make it through just fine.  If we hadn't cut it DD would look like a little girl by now.
